Though he wouldn't film anything for Netflix, director Quentin Tarantino says he has a favorite series that he calls the best in the platform's history.

The streaming era has fueled a paradigm shift in Hollywood, and the list of famous directors who haven't and likely never will transfer their talents to a known platform is getting shorter by the year, and Quentin Tarantino will always be booked, Far Out Magazine reports .

As he says himself, there's no way he's going to record his swan song for Netflix, Prime Video or AppleTV+. However, he's still happy to take their money, as evidenced by the hefty royalty package he earned for the sequel to David Fincher's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Fincher, like Martin Scorsese, Alfonso Cuaron, the Coen brothers, Bong Joon-ho, Wes Anderson and Ron Howard, is among the acclaimed and award-winning directors who have made movies and/or TV shows for streaming services, but even if his career continues indefinitely, Tarantino won't be joining them.

Besides not wanting to make a movie for Netflix, the filmmaker despises the idea of what Netflix is doing to the industry, and can't understand why audiences would rather watch a new movie from their couch or phone instead of visiting the nearest movie theater.

There is, however, one original series that he calls the best in the history of the Netflix platform.

"My favorite series is House on the Hill," he says.

Tarantino is right, as Mike Flanagan's atmospheric, disturbing and impeccably composed supernatural drama ranks among Netflix's all-time greats, even if receiving such praise from one of the most influential auteurs of the modern era took its creator by surprise.

When told of Tarantino's enthusiasm, the director replied, "Well, hell." All five of Flanagan's Netflix series are watchable, but most people would agree that "House on the Hill" is a notch above "The Bly Mansion," "Midnight Massacre," "Midnight Club" and "The Fall of the House of Usher."

"Scott Frank's The Queen's Gambit is another Netflix series that has caught Tarantino's attention, and these are the only two titles available to stream directly that have become favorites. | BGNES
