Alcaraz beats another Serbian in Rome to reach the round of 16

Laslo Djere is the last victim of the Spaniard.

Carlos Alcaraz prevailed over another Serbian at the Masters tournament in Rome. After defeating Dusan Lajovic in his first match on Italian soil, the world number three also didn't give a set to Laslo Djere after 7-6 (2), 6-2 in about an hour and 45 minutes of play.

Alcaraz, who has a title in Monte Carlo and a final in Barcelona, did not play in Madrid due to physical problems, but looks in good shape about two weeks before the start of his title defense at Roland Garros. The Spaniard had difficulties against Djere in the opening set, in which he was twice behind with a break, but eventually reached a tiebreak, in which he was very convincing. This seemed to dishearten his opponent, who allowed two breaks at the beginning of the second half and until the end Alcaraz had no problems closing the match.

His next opponent is Karen Khachanov, who stopped Francesco Passaro. The Italian beat Bulgaria's best male player Grigor Dimitrov before that.

In the lower half, all the round of 16 pairs are already clear, with two of them being very interesting. Fifth seed Jack Draper plays with Corentin Moutét from France. Lorenzo Musetti faces Daniil Medvedev, and Arthur Fils is the opponent of second seed Alexander Zverev.

In the women's number 4 in the schedule, Coco Gauff will play with Emma Raducanu in the round of 16. Bianca Andreescu, who eliminated 11th seed Elena Rybakina, secured a match with Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng from China. Also out is tenth seed Emma Navarro, who fell to Clara Tauson. The Dane is the next opponent of Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva. | BGNES
