Arne Slott not impressed by Newcastle-Liverpool football

Coach criticises on-field performance

Liverpool manager Arne Slott has weighed in on the dramatic 3-2 win over Newcastle in the second round of the Premier League. The decisive goal came from 16-year-old Rio Ngumoa, who was particularly praised by the Dutchman.

Slott explained to the media that it was not the most beautiful match to watch:

"I'm not sure I've ever watched a football match. It was all about set pieces and long passing. The tactics I talked about before the match didn't matter much.

But I liked how we behaved. The first half hour, even the first 45 minutes, were very tough, but the team didn't give up.

When the opponent was down to ten men, you could have expected that this would be a big plus for us. But when their goalkeeper is executing every set piece, the numerical advantage hardly helps. That's why it was so difficult for us to keep the score at 2:0.

A magnificent goal for a 16-year-old boy. For his age, Rio finished the situation perfectly. In the locker room, someone said that he could have controlled the ball first, but he is so confident in himself. For his age, he finishes attacks perfectly," Slott explained. |BGNES
