Grimsby Town, who play in League Two (the fourth tier of English football), knocked out giants Manchester United from the Carabao Cup tournament 12:11 after a penalty shootout. The regular time of the match from the second round of the competition ended 2:2.

The hosts Grimsby even led 2:1 until the 89th minute, but conceded an equalizer at the end.

Charles Vernam opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after an assist from Derry Burns. Just 8 minutes later, Tyrell Warren made it 2:0 after a very rough mistake by goalkeeper Onana. The goal assist was given by Vernam.

Brian Mbemo brought the guests back into the match. He scored for 2:1 with a measured shot on the diagonal. Harry Maguire (89) managed to equalize in the desperation attack. The defender headed a corner kick and slotted past the otherwise excellent goalkeeper Christy Pym for 2-2.

It came down to penalties. The home team's nerves were stronger in those. The two teams took a total of 26 shots to finish 12-11 for Grimsby.

Odwor missed the third penalty for the "black and whites". However, Matheus Cunha and Mbemo from United also failed to score. The first penalty was saved by Pym, and the second the midfielder shot against the crossbar.
