Stellantis appoints Italian Antonio Filosa as new CEO

Filosa was unanimously selected by the board after a “thorough selection process of internal and external candidates.”

Automotive giant Stellantis, whose brands include Jeep, Peugeot, and Fiat, has appointed company veteran Antonio Filiosa as its new chief executive as the US-European group grapples with US tariffs and a slumping market in North America. The Italian manager, who has led Stellantis in North and South America, will succeed Carlos Tavares, who abruptly left his post in December. Filos was unanimously selected by the board after “a thorough selection process of internal and external candidates,” Stellantis said in a statement. Stellantis announced that it will convene an extraordinary shareholders' meeting in the coming days to elect Filosa as a member of the board and CEO of the company. “In the meantime, to give him full authority and ensure an effective transition, the board has granted him the powers of chief executive officer, effective June 23,” the statement said. “The board selected Antonio Filosa as chief executive officer based on his proven track record of success over more than 25 years in the automotive industry,” Stellantis said. The company also praised his “extensive global experience, unparalleled knowledge of the company and recognized leadership qualities.” | BGNES
