Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić posted a photo on Instagram showing him playing chess — at the very same time that a massive protest against his authoritarian regime began at Slavija Square in Belgrade, with demonstrators demanding snap parliamentary elections.
"Just now from the presidency. Moments of relaxation," Vučić posted on his Instagram account.
In the photo, the president is playing chess with Luka Petrović, the city’s secretary for investments.
At 9:00 p.m. local time (10:00 p.m. Bulgarian time), the students’ ultimatum to Vučić expired — they had demanded that he dissolve the National Assembly in order to call early parliamentary elections. | BGNES
