The New York Knicks will look for a new coach after the end of the National Basketball Association (NBA) season after relieving coach Tom Thibodeau from his duties. The two sides part ways just days after the New Yorkers were defeated by the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals.
Thibodeau led the Knicks to a 51-31 record in the 2024/25 season - the team finished second in the Atlantic Division and third in the East. New York overcame the Detroit Pistons with a 4-2 victory in the first round of the playoffs. With the same result, the team dethroned the Boston Celtics before losing to Indiana 2-4.
He took the team to the playoffs in four of his five campaigns at the helm. Last summer, the organization rewarded him with a new three-year contract. In his five seasons, he finished with a total of 226 wins and 174 losses.
Despite being bolstered by Karl-Anthony-Towns and Mikal Bridges before the campaign, New York remained without a title since last triumphing back in 1973. However, the team reached the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2000. | BGNES
