Iran has fired missiles at US military bases in Qatar and Iraq, according to official media reports.

State television called it a “powerful” response to recent US strikes on key nuclear sites, AFP reported.

“The Iranian missile operation against US bases in Qatar and Iraq has begun and has been named ‘Blessing of Victory,’” the official IRNA news agency said.

AFP journalists reported hearing explosions in Doha, the capital of Qatar, where the largest US base in the region is located.

The announcement came shortly after Qatar closed its airspace, citing regional events following the US strikes against Iran.

The explosions were heard in central Doha and in Lusail, north of the Qatari capital, and moving projectiles were spotted in the night sky. | BGNES
