The city government of Vienna has approved the construction of a monument to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide
The Federation of Bosnian Associations in Austria “Consilium Bosniacum” received official permission. The monument will be erected in the United Nations Square in Vienna, right in front of the UN building.
The idea for the initiative arose after the adoption of the Srebrenica Genocide Resolution in the Austrian Parliament on 6 July 2022.
In July 1995, within a few days, over 8,000 Muslim men and boys were slaughtered or shot by Serbian forces who had taken over Srebrenica, which was to be a UN “protected area” guarded by Dutch peacekeepers. | BGNES
