Russian missile attack on Dnieper town killed 15 and wounded 174 others

"The number of dead in Dnipro has grown to 15 people. Unfortunately, 174 people were wounded," Lisak noted.

In Dnieper, the death toll from the Russian missile attack rose to 15 people and 174 people were injured.

This was reported in Telegram by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration Serhiy Lisak.

"The number of dead in Dnipro has grown to 15 people. Unfortunately, 174 people were wounded," Lisak noted.

Nearly a hundred of them remain in hospital. Doctors are providing all the necessary medical assistance.

"I thank them for their dedication despite the heavy workload - as well as the rescuers, police, utility workers and all the services that immediately came to the aid of the people," the governor added.

A dormitory, a high school and an administration building in the city were damaged in the strike. Lisak also reported killed and injured in the nearby town of Samarqi.

Ukraine's national railway company, Ukrzaliznitsa, said a train travelling from Odessa to Zaporizhzhya was damaged in the attack.

"Ukrzaliznytsia is preparing a replacement train in Dnipro to evacuate passengers to Zaporizhzhya," the company said in a statement.

Ukrzaliznytsia said no passengers or railway workers died in the attack, but several people were injured and are receiving medical attention.

The attack came as NATO leaders gathered for a summit in The Hague. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte warned on 23 June that Russia remains the most immediate and long-term threat to the alliance.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibikha criticized deadly Russian strikes on the Dnieper, saying the attack was a "rejection of peace" ahead of the summit.

"As leaders gather in The Hague for the NATO summit, Russia is sending a message of terror and rejection of peace," Sibikha said on social media, urging Kiev's allies to "step up pressure on Moscow." | BGNES
