The Athens Stock Exchange closed with gains for the sixth consecutive day, as the overall ATHEX index rose by 1.74% to reach 2,106.24 points — its highest closing level since March 29, 2010, reported Kathimerini. Since the beginning of August, the index has increased by 7.46%, and since the start of the year — by an impressive 43.31%.
The total turnover reached €225.58 million, with nearly 35 million shares traded. Blue-chip stocks recorded an average increase of 1.78%, while mid-cap companies gained 1.10%.
Among the leading gainers were Aegean Airlines with an impressive jump of 8.01%, the energy-metallurgical group Metlen (+7.19%), the refinery HELLENiQ (+4.14%), the metallurgical company Viohalco (+3.37%), the refinery Motor Oil (+2.30%), and Alpha Bank (+2.11%).
