Trump and Intel CEO Held an Interesting Meeting Following Call for Resignation

Intel remains a leading manufacturer of chips for traditional computer processors but is gradually losing ground compared to the Asian giants TSMC and Samsung, which dominate the artificial intelligence chip segment.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he held a "very interesting" meeting with Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, just days after calling for his resignation, AFP reported. Trump posted on his social platform Truth Social that the meeting was also attended by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

"The meeting was very interesting," Trump wrote. "His success and rise are an amazing story." He added that members of his cabinet would spend time with Tan and next week will present the president with "proposals."

Last week, Trump demanded the immediate resignation of the new Intel leader after a Republican senator raised national security concerns related to his business ties with companies in China.

"The CEO of INTEL has a serious conflict of interest and must resign immediately. There is no other solution to this problem," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Lip-Bu Tan, for his part, denied the claims in a statement that the company is working with the Trump administration to clarify the facts. Tan, born in Malaysia and a veteran of the technology industry, took over Intel’s leadership in March at a difficult time for the company, which announced layoffs amid U.S. tariffs and export restrictions.

Intel remains a leading manufacturer of chips for traditional computer processors but is gradually losing ground compared to the Asian giants TSMC and Samsung, which dominate the artificial intelligence chip segment. Tan emphasized that he has always operated within the highest legal and ethical standards and that much false information circulates publicly about his past activities at Walden International and Cadence Design Systems. |BGNES
