The mystery surrounding Master Yoda from Star Wars has been solved after 45 years, according to the website Gaming Bible.

The Star Wars universe is home to all kinds of mysteries, some of which remain unsolved to this day. However, one of the legends surrounding everyone's favorite little green Jedi has recently been solved, and if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense.

Since his first appearance, Yoda has appeared in numerous films and television series in the Star Wars franchise, playing an important role in The Clone Wars and as Luke Skywalker's teacher. However, perhaps more famous than his appearance are his dialogues, as fans have always wondered why Yoda speaks in such a distinctive way. Now, according to George Lucas himself, we know why, and the reason is quite ingenious.

"Because if you speak normal English, people won't listen to you as much. But if you have an accent or it's very difficult to understand what you're saying, they concentrate on what you're saying. He was the philosopher of the film. I had to come up with a way to get people to listen to him — especially 12-year-olds," Lucas explained at the screening to mark the 45th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back.

The plan definitely worked, considering that some of Yoda's most iconic lines are still quoted today, and it seems that other Star Wars fans agree.

That's why Yoda's last words to Luke in The Last Jedi are spoken normally, not backwards:

"Luke... we are what they grow up to be. That is the true burden of all masters."

Not "Skywalker," but his first name. Because that is Luke's final lesson. He is no longer a student.
