Actress Charlize Theron has criticized the hype surrounding Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding in Venice.

The Oscar winner revealed that she was impressed by the Amazon boss's Italian wedding.

During a fundraiser for her project “Charlize Theron – Africa” in Los Angeles, the 49-year-old Hollywood star joked that she and the crowd gathered were among the few in Hollywood who did not receive an invitation to the lavish wedding of 61-year-old Jeff and 55-year-old Lauren Sanchez, which took place in Venice, Italy, on the evening of June 28.

“I think we might be the only people who didn't get invited to Bezos' wedding,” Charlize joked, adding, “But that's okay, because they're mean and we're cool.”

The actress also thanked the audience for supporting her non-profit organization. She explained that there has never been a more important time to try to do something good in the world, “especially when the world seems to be on fire, because it is.”

"Here in Los Angeles, in the US, and around the world, we are moving backwards at a rapid pace. Immigration policies are destroying families, not criminals; women's rights are being eroded every day; the lives of homosexuals and transsexuals are increasingly being erased; and gender-based violence is on the rise.
