Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived wearing a sweater with the letters “CCCP” – Union of Soviet Socialist Republics – upon his arrival in Alaska.

Lavrov will be part of the Kremlin delegation when Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump meet later today for the long-awaited summit to discuss the war in Ukraine.

Lavrov’s white top was worn under a black vest, with the letters “CCCP” visible in a video posted on X.

The current Russian regime uses nostalgia for the USSR to pursue its goals. Putin himself called the collapse of the Soviet Union “the greatest political catastrophe” of the 20th century during a 2005 address.
