US President Donald Trump, in a conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky and the leaders of NATO countries, expressed the opinion that “a quick peace deal is better than a ceasefire,” Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported, citing a source familiar with the content of the conversation.
The White House reported that President Trump spoke with Zelensky, and then other European leaders joined the conversation.
“I think a quick peace deal is better than a ceasefire,” the source quoted Trump as saying during the conversation.
Earlier, negotiations took place in Alaska between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump. The leaders’ meeting was held at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage. The talks between the leaders in a narrow format were held in a “three-on-three” format and lasted two hours and 45 minutes. The Russian side was represented at the meeting by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov.
