Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reaffirmed his country’s commitment to peace after a lengthy call with U.S. President Donald Trump. The two leaders spoke for more than an hour and a half, including around an hour of bilateral talks before European leaders were invited to join.
According to Zelensky, President Trump briefed him on his meeting with the Russian leader and the main points of their discussion. “It is important that America’s strength has an impact on the development of the situation,” Zelensky emphasized.
Kyiv supports Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, stressing that crucial issues can and should be discussed directly at the level of leaders. Zelensky also announced that he will meet Trump in Washington, D.C., on Monday to discuss details regarding ending the war and the killings.
The Ukrainian president underlined the importance of European involvement at every stage to ensure reliable security guarantees together with the United States. He also noted positive signals from Washington about America’s readiness to take part in guaranteeing Ukraine’s security. “We continue to coordinate our positions with all partners. I thank everyone who is helping,” Zelensky said. | BGNES
