Trump expresses readiness to impose new sanctions on Russia

The confirmation comes after Russia launched its largest air strike against Ukraine to date.

US President Donald Trump said he was ready to impose new sanctions on Moscow, hours after Russia launched its biggest air strike against Ukraine to date.

Speaking at the White House, he replied "yes, I am ready" when asked if he was prepared to impose further sanctions on Russia, the Anadolu Agency reported.

The confirmation comes after Russia fired a record 818 drones and missiles overnight, surpassing the previous record of 728 in July.

Trump also answered questions about domestic policy. He said that federal intervention in Chicago was not military action, but rather an effort to clean up the city, despite his social media post about Chicago, in which he referred to a famous film about the Vietnam War.

When asked about Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was grilled by a congressional committee last week, Trump described him as a "different person" with "very good ideas." | BGNES
