Vucic: China has always been with Serbia, so what's the problem with me visiting Beijing?

Vucic thanked Xi Jinping for his support for Serbia.

"What harm did I do with that? Shouldn't I meet with the most powerful and important people in the world? Did I cause harm by talking to the President of China? China has always been there for Serbia, especially in difficult times. Serbia and the Serbian people will never forget that!"This was stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic during his visit to Beijing, BGNES reported.Vučić said that today and tomorrow the Serbian delegation expects several meetings with Chinese state leaders, including a meeting with President Xi Jinping.

"So I have to prepare myself especially for this. I will also meet with the chairman of the People's Republic of China's parliament," Vučić told reporters when asked what other meetings he would have in Beijing.

He added that during these two days he would meet with at least 14 Chinese companies.

"I am glad that Serbia is attracting so much interest. These are some companies that operate in our country, where you have a duty to show them respect in the People's Republic of China, but also at least ten companies with which we have not yet cooperated," the Serbian head of state emphasized.

Vucic thanked Xi for his support for Serbia.

When asked how he would respond to criticism that he had harmed the country by coming to Beijing and scheduling meetings, Vučić emphasized that he would try to conclude bilateral agreements with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev.

"What harm did I cause by doing this (coming to Beijing, ed.)? Shouldn't I have met with the most powerful and important people in the world? Shouldn't we cooperate with these countries? Did you know that Uzbekistan has 45 million inhabitants? Do you know how Baku is growing? I won't tell you how and what Moscow has, etc. I'm talking about China. Did I cause any harm by talking to the President of China?" Vucic asked.

President Aleksandar Vučić is in China from September 2 to 4, where he will attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II at the invitation of the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping. | BGNES
