London police seize £6m Ferrari, Lamborghini and Bentley

Police seized 72 cars worth around £6m, including two identical purple Lamborghinis, during a three-day operation in Hyde Park, Kensington and Chelsea.

Luxury cars worth millions of pounds have been seized by London police in a bid to crack down on dangerous driving in central London, the BBC reported.

Police seized 72 cars worth around £6m, including two identical purple Lamborghinis, during a three-day operation in Hyde Park, Kensington and Chelsea.

The drivers were issued with tickets for various traffic offences, including driving without insurance, driving without a licence, disqualified driving, false documents and using false number plates.

Officers also recovered several stolen vehicles and made eight arrests for a range of offences, including a man wanted for causing bodily harm and damage to property.

One car was stopped by officers for not having insurance on the vehicle. But after routine checks, officers had enough information to arrest four people for immigration offences.

Police said driving without insurance was often linked to wider criminal activity, including drink-driving and drug-driving, driving with a suspended licence, vehicle theft, money laundering, drug dealing and organised crime.

Luxury cars seized included Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Bentleys that were either out of order or had been driven illegally.

Special Superintendent James Deller of the Metropolitan Police said the operation was in response to concerns from residents and businesses that expensive vehicles were “causing a nuisance” in central and west London.

Seven men and one woman were arrested during the operation. I BGNES
