Siniakova and Verbeek lift mixed doubles titles in London

The Czech claimed first mixed doubles title in her career, while Verbeek was victorious for the first time in Grand Slam tournaments.

Czech Katerina Siniakova and Sem Verbeek of the Netherlands won the mixed doubles title at the Wimbledon Championships, defeating Britain's Joe Salisbury and Luisa Stefani of Brazil 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3).

Facing home favorites Salisbury and Stefani on Centre Court, the Czech-Dutch duo kept their composure while Stefani suffered a leg problem in the second set.

For Siniakova and Verbeek it was their first title as a tandem - the Czech won her debut mixed doubles trophy, while for Verbeek it was his first Grand Slam title as a whole.

"It's very special, it means so much - we had a lot of fun on the court, I really enjoyed it, it was incredible", said Siniakova, 29, who added to her 10 Slam doubles titles, including in Australia with American Taylor Townsend in January.

"Katerina, thank you very much, it was an honor to play alongside such a doubles legend, one of the best in history. Thank you for making this Thursday a day I will remember for the rest of my life", said Verbeek, 31. | BGNES
