Israeli forces have killed at least 50 people gathered near an aid distribution point in Khan Yunis.
This was stated by the Hamas-controlled Gaza Civil Defense Agency. The agency updated the information after earlier reporting that the death toll was 47, AFP reported.
Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal said at least 50 people were killed and more than 200 injured when thousands of Palestinians gathered in the morning to receive flour at a charity aid center.
"Israeli drones fired at citizens. A few minutes later, Israeli tanks fired several shells at the citizens, resulting in a large number of martyrs and wounded," Basal said.
The Israeli army (IDF) told AFP it was "investigating" the incident.
Later, the Gaza Health Ministry said that as a result of the incident, "51 martyrs and over 200 wounded have arrived at the Nasser Medical Complex, 20 of whom are in critical condition."
According to the Ministry of Health, 55,432 people have died since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. | BGNES
