The son of Cher and the late Greg Allman, 48-year-old Elijah Blue Allman, was hospitalized in California after an overdose. The incident is the latest episode in his long battle with drug addiction.
On Saturday, June 14, Elijah was found unconscious and rushed to the hospital, where doctors managed to save his life.
It is unclear what substances he took, but sources close to the family say he is “very lucky to be alive.” Olman has been battling severe addiction for years. Back in 2014, he admitted that he started using drugs at the age of 11.
“I was on the verge of overdose several times and felt death was very close... I tried to stay in control, but in reality it's an illusion,” he said at the time.
Concerned about his mental and physical condition, Cher attempted to place him under court guardianship in 2023, stating that her son was unable to manage his life or his finances. However, the court rejected her request.
According to TMZ, the 78-year-old singer has been at her son's bedside since the beginning of his recovery and hopes that this dramatic signal will be a turning point and help him finally get the medical and psychological help he needs. | BGNES
