Miley Cyrus has never found a role that would allow her to revive her acting career and became an actress only thanks to the Disney Channel series that brought her great popularity.
The 32-year-old pop star rose to worldwide fame in the late 2000s when she landed the lead role in the Disney musical television series Hannah Montana, but since then she has focused primarily on her music career and has only appeared in a few films.
On the New York Times podcast “The Interview,” she said, "It's actually really interesting because I got the role in Hannah Montana because I was a singer. I was singing in Nashville, and there was this little place in our mall where you could go and record a demo. So I would go to the mall, do demo recordings, write songs. And they were looking for someone who could really sing, not just record children's music, but where the music was at the heart of the show. I was chosen as an actress because I was a singer. I became known as an actress, but I hadn't actually acted in anything. I was in a commercial for baked beans and had two lines in a Tim Burton movie."
The hit singer of “Easy Lover,” who starred alongside her now ex-husband Liam Hemsworth in “The Last Song” in 2010 and most recently starred in 2012's “So Undercover,” still wants to return to acting and has “challenged” directors and writers to come up with something for her to play.
She adds, "I became an actress so I could bring that part of myself to life, but I haven't found the right role because I'm so distinctive that finding something that completely consumes me is really challenging. And I challenge every screenwriter and director to offer me such a role because I would really like it. Either I want to be myself because that's what I'm really good at, or I want to give up myself because that's what I'm really good at too. I'm not good at things in between." |BGNES
