Fans of Oasis have gone mad for their music once again following the band’s return, sending them to number one in the UK album chart, the BBC reported.
After the group kicked off their long-awaited tour last week, their greatest hits compilation Time Flies has once again claimed the top spot in the United Kingdom. In second place stands their 1995 album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?.
Their 1994 debut album Definitely Maybe reached number four, with only Sabrina Carpenter managing to stop them from fully occupying the top three.
News of their triumphant chart comeback comes as the Britpop heroes prepare for their big homecoming with the first of five completely sold-out concerts in Manchester.
Oasis have had a total of eight number one albums, last topping the chart in September when Definitely Maybe returned to number one after the reunion was announced. At that time, Time Flies and Morning Glory also re-entered the top five.
Three of their songs have also entered the top 20 singles chart this week, led by Acquiesce – which originally came out only as a B-side – at number 17. That’s followed by Don’t Look Back in Anger at number 18 and Live Forever at number 19.
Noel and Liam Gallagher buried the hatchet and took to the stage together for the first time in 16 years, starting with a concert in Cardiff a week ago that received rave reviews from both fans and critics.
They are now continuing their tour at Heaton Park in Manchester, where around 80,000 people will cheer them on each night.
Oasis will also play seven shows at Wembley Stadium in London, as well as concerts in Edinburgh and Dublin, before heading out on a world tour.
