Ozzy Osbourne's final concert with Black Sabbath will be broadcast live worldwide

The July 5 concert at Aston Villa Football Club's Villa Park stadium will also feature performances by American rock bands Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Tool, and Slayer, as well as a short solo performance by Osbourne.

Ozzy Osbourne's final concert as frontman of Black Sabbath will be broadcast worldwide after fans snapped up tickets for the concert in their hometown in 16 minutes. The original members of the band will take part, AFP reported.

Osbourne, who in 2020 revealed that he suffers from Parkinson's disease, will join Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for the all-day “Back To The Beginning” concert in Birmingham, central England, where the heavy metal giants formed in 1968.

The July 5 concert at Aston Villa Football Club's Villa Park stadium will also feature performances by American rock bands Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Tool, and Slayer, as well as a short solo performance by Osbourne.

This will be the first joint show by the original lineup in 20 years and Osbourne's farewell concert.

“With tickets for the concert selling out in less than 16 minutes, those who missed out on attending live will be able to enjoy what is shaping up to be the greatest heavy metal concert of all time,” the band said.

Fans had the opportunity to purchase tickets for the live broadcast at 3 p.m. (local time) on June 6 for £24.99, allowing them to watch the concert live, albeit two hours after it started in the venue, and continue watching it for another 48 hours.

"We had huge demand from fans around the world who couldn't get tickets to the concert, and they turned to social media, begging us to broadcast the concert live. Since this is such a historic event, we simply couldn't disappoint them," said Osbourne's wife, Sharon.

Black Sabbath has sold over 75 million albums worldwide and is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of heavy metal music.

All proceeds from the concert will be donated to charities, including Cure Parkinson's and Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Osbourne's diagnosis forced him to stop touring. But Sharon said the concert at Villa Park would be his last.

“This is the end for him,” she added. | BGNES
