Tom Holland is over the moon with joy that he will soon become everyone's favorite Spider-Man again. The actor is "very excited" about the next sequel for one specific reason.
In a recent interview with Flip Your Wig, Holland explained that the new film — the fourth in the MCU series, titled Spider-Man: A Brand New Day — will be a return to the franchise's format after the Covid-19 pandemic hampered the team's ability to shoot the film with the latest installment, 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.
"I think we were really limited in what we could do in the last film because of Covid. We shot the entire film on stages," Holland said. "Now we're really going to turn to old-fashioned cinema and shoot on real locations."
The actor added that one of those locations will be Glasgow, Scotland, where production will begin soon.
"We're going to use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we're preparing," he hinted.
Holland also said that "playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old friend" and that filming the next movie "will feel like doing Spider-Man 1 again" (from 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming).
"I haven't done it in so long that it will feel like a breath of fresh air. I think fans will be ecstatic about what we're preparing," the star added.
Holland admitted that there were some creative challenges in making No Way Home, but they certainly didn't affect the film's huge box office success — the third film in the series ultimately grossed $1.9 billion worldwide.
This is certainly due to the fact that the film welcomed back the actors who played Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, in the previous two series – Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Spider-Man: A New Day is scheduled for release in the summer of 2026. | BGNES
