Bild: Alternative for Germany is now the leading political force

The rating of Chancellor Friedrich Merz's ruling coalition has collapsed.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz's ruling red-black coalition has collapsed to 37%, while Alternative for Germany is on the rise and is currently the largest political force in the Federal Republic with 26%. It has thus overtaken the CDU/CSU, which enjoys the confidence of 24% of voters

This is shown by a public opinion poll conducted by the Forsa Institute on the occasion of the 100th day of Chancellor Friedrich Merz's administration, writes Bild

The CDU/CSU has not performed this poorly since the end of April.

The German Social Democratic Party (SPD) continues to hover at 13%, along with the Greens, who have gained one percentage point. The Left Party loses one point and gains 11%. The FDP shows an unchanged result of 3%, Sarah Wagenknecht's Alliance 4%, and the other parties 6%.

The share of non-voters and undecided voters has increased by one point to 25%, which is well above the level of the last Bundestag elections (17.9%).

The situation also looks bleak for Chancellor Friedrich Merz: his rating has fallen to a new low. Only 29 percent of those surveyed are satisfied with his work, which is three points less than in the last survey. This is the worst result since he was elected in May. Dissatisfaction has risen by three points to 67 percent.

Only the majority of CDU and CSU supporters are still satisfied with Merz. But even here, his approval rating has fallen by 4 percentage points to 72%. Among SPD supporters, 60 percent are dissatisfied with him. Supporters of Alternative for Germany are particularly critical of Merz: 95 percent of them are dissatisfied with his work.

The alliance is also losing ground in terms of political competence: only 19% of Germans believe that the CDU/CSU is capable of solving the country's problems. Alternative for Germany and the SPD each gain one point, reaching 12% and 7% respectively.

Five percent believe that the Greens and the Left Party can do better. Half of those surveyed do not believe that any party can solve Germany's problems.

The current INSA survey showed slightly different results. The CDU/CSU lost half a percentage point and received 27% of the vote, but still leads Alternative for Germany by two percent, which remains stable at 25%. І BGNES
