Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was "grateful" to US President Donald Trump for allowing more weapons to be delivered to Kiev through NATO.

Zelensky emphasized that this step will help protect the lives of Ukrainians, AFP reported.

"I am grateful to President Trump for his willingness to support the protection of the lives of our people," he said in his evening address.

The Ukrainian president also said that he had spoken with his American counterpart on the phone and discussed "solutions" to protect Ukraine after Trump approved the delivery of additional weapons to Kiev.

"We discussed with the president the necessary means and solutions to better protect people from Russian attacks and strengthen our positions," Zelensky wrote in a post on X. | BGNES
