The regime of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has resorted to censoring tennis legend Novak Djokovic, BGNES reported.
Yesterday, July 5, Djokovic defeated his compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic and set a new Wimbledon record, but what happened after the victory was even more interesting. In addition to the battle on the court, the famous tennis player engaged in another type of confrontation off the green rectangle — he decided to celebrate each of his victories in London with the symbolic "Pumpaj" — the slogan of the protest against Vucic’s regime, which has no direct English translation but carries a slang meaning akin to “Push on” or “Keep going.”
Djokovic and his daughter celebrated the win in front of fans with gestures mimicking a pumping motion. The Serb's words — "pumpaj" — after the match with Kecmanovic were not translated during the live broadcast on the Serbian sports channel Arena Sport, while the state broadcaster RTS cut the live feed entirely.
The moment was captured and shared on the official Wimbledon account on X, but never reached Serbian audiences. In recent months, Djokovic has repeatedly voiced public support for the mass protests. | BGNES
