Ferrari has rewarded Formula One team boss Frederic Vasseur with a new long-term contract ahead of this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.
Vasseur has been in the role since the start of 2023 and was instrumental in the team landing seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes.
Vasseur, 57, came under pressure from the Italian media in May, when they suggested his job was under threat due to Ferrari not being in the title race this season. Two months later, the Italian constructor ended speculation over the Frenchman's future by signing a contract until at least the end of 2027.
The news also means that former Red Bull boss Christian Horner will not be taking over at Ferrari after being linked with the position.
Ferrari started strongly with Vasseur, narrowly missing out on the constructors' title last season, losing the battle to McLaren by just 14 points. A strong finish to 2024, along with the signing of Hamilton, had given fans hope that Ferrari will claim its first constructors' title since 2008 and its first drivers' title since 2007, when Kimi Raikkonen won.
However, the Scuderia have yet to win a race this season, with all five podium finishes so far coming from Charles Leclerc. Ferrari are currently locked in a battle for second place in the constructors' championship with Mercedes and Red Bull. | BGNES
