Germany has announced that it will soon deliver two additional U.S.-made Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, AFP reported.
Following an agreement reached with the United States, the German military will provide additional Patriot launchers in the coming days, and further components will be delivered over the next two to three months, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense.
In return, Germany has secured an agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense to be the “first country” to receive expedited delivery of next-generation Patriot systems.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, Berlin has already delivered three Patriot systems to Ukraine.
Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said the announcement “once again demonstrates that Germany is by far Ukraine’s strongest supporter when it comes to air defense.”
Earlier today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that 31 people were killed and 159 injured in a Russian airstrike on Kyiv the previous day.
Among the dead were five children, the youngest of whom was just two years old. | BGNES
