Stefanos Tsitsipas has brought back his father Apostolos as his coach after parting ways with Goran Ivanisevic, the former world number three announced.
The 26-year-old Greek ended his partnership with Ivanisevic, who helped Novak Djokovic win nine of his 24 Grand Slam titles, last week after less than two months together.
Tsitsipas, a finalist at Roland Garros in 2021 and the Australian Open in 2023, has slipped to No. 30 in the world rankings and has failed to advance beyond the second round of any of the past three Grand Slam tournaments since the start of the season. After his exit at Wimbledon due to injury, Ivanisevic criticized Tsitsipas, saying he has never seen a "more unprepared player" in his life. The Dubai title in February was also the only final the Greek played in 2025.
"Some journeys sometimes come back to where they started. After a while without him, I was reunited with the person who first believed in me - my father. I am grateful to share the court and the road with him again. We have been through every chapter of this journey together and the next one feels like the right one. Sometimes, returning home is the boldest step forward", Tsitsipas, who was eliminated in his first match at the Toronto Masters by Christopher O'Connell in three sets, wrote on social media. | BGNES
