Lando Norris won the Hungarian Grand Prix in Formula 1 for the first time. This way the title remains with McLaren, after last season's triumph in the Hungarian Grand Prix in Formula 1 Oscar Piastre. Today the Australian remained +0.698 behind the winner.
Norris started from third position, but was overtaken by George Russell and Fernando Alonso in the first corner. Norris then quickly dealt with Alonso, but remained stuck behind Russell, which cost him time compared to the leaders Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastre.
This early lag made the winner and his team look at the alternative strategy with only one tire change, while Leclerc and Piastre opted for the more conventional strategy with two pit stops. This move, however, proved to be a win-win for Norris, who was overtaken by his teammate Piastre in the final laps.
The Australian, however, was never able to get close enough to attack, despite having DRS in the final laps. Russell finished third, taking advantage of Leclerc's slump in pace in the second half of the race to take the podium.
On the eve of the summer break, the two McLaren drivers have five wins each this season. |BGNES
