Lewis Capaldi and Lorde top the UK charts after performances at Glastonbury Festival

Lorde's new album reached number one on the album chart, while Capaldi's song "Survive" is number one on the singles chart.

Singers Lewis Capaldi and Lorde topped the UK charts after their performances at the Glastonbury Festival.

Alternative pop star Lorde's new album, Virgin, reached number one in the album charts after she performed all 11 tracks from it at a secret performance on the Woodsies stage on June 28.

Scottish singer Kapaldi also made an emotional return to the Somerset festival last weekend, performing his new song "Survive," which has since climbed to number one on the singles chart.

Kapaldi performed a 35-minute concert on the Pyramid stage, two years after struggling to control the symptoms of Tourette's syndrome while singing on the same stage.

In an interview with Official Charts, Kapaldi thanked the fans who streamed and downloaded "Survive." He said it "really means a lot to me."

"I've been away for a while and to come back to such a wave of love and support is absolutely incredible. I can't thank everyone enough for the kind words from Glastonbury — and now for this. It's been the best week of my life," he said.

On June 28, addressing the festival audience, he said, "It's so good to be back. I'm not going to say much today because if I do, I think I'll probably cry.

But it's just incredible to be here with all of you, and I can't thank you enough for coming to see me. The second time will be more successful, friends. Today will be a short performance, but I just wanted to come and finish what I couldn't finish the first time," he said.

Performing "Survive" at the festival, Kapaldi was visibly moved.

"The last two years haven't been the best for me, it's been tough at times. This was my goal, to come back here," he added.

Lewis finished his performance with "Somebody You Loved," the song that the Glastonbury audience helped him sing when he was struggling with the symptoms of Tourette's syndrome in 2023. | BGNES
