Singer and actress Miley Cyrus is planning "something really special" for Hannah Montana's 20th anniversary.
The 32-year-old star rose to fame starring in the Disney series, which aired for four seasons from 2006 to 2011. She revealed that she would like to pay tribute to the series with a special celebration next year.
"I want to do something really, really special for the series because it really was the beginning of everything that is here today. Without Hannah I really wouldn't be here today," Miley said.
In the series, Cyrus stars as Miley Stewart - a teenager who leads a double life as famous pop singer Hannah Montana - and Miley is excited to celebrate the character.
"It's really crazy to think that I started out as a heroine that I thought would be impossible to get rid of. And now it's something that when I walk into a room it's looked at as nostalgia or something you have from your childhood, but now I've integrated myself into everyone's lives as the character itself. So it's exciting to celebrate that," she said.
Although Miley initially wanted to get rid of the image and abandon her character after the series ended, she revealed last year that she still feels a great affection for Hannah Montana.
"A little bit of everything has changed, but at the same time nothing has changed, I'm still standing here and proud to have been Hannah Montana. In many ways, this award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing loyal fans, and to everyone who made my dream a reality. To quote the legend herself, "This is life," Cyrus said during her acceptance speech for her Disney Legend Award.
And Miley would be open to returning to the image of the heroine.
"You know what, honestly, I try to put that wig on all the time. It's just in storage collecting dust, and I'm ready to take it out. The opportunity will present itself. I'd definitely like to resurrect it at some point. It needs a big makeover because it's like it's stuck in 2008, so we're going to have to go on a Miss Montana shopping spree," she said while appearing on the radio show Carolina With Greg T In The Morning in 2020 | BGNES
