Trump to Zelensky: We will provide Ukraine with very good protection and security

Trump emphasized that regardless of the outcome of today's meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders, US support for Ukraine will continue.

We will provide Ukraine with very good protection and security.

This was stated by US President Donald Trump to journalists at the White House, where he is holding a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump emphasized that regardless of the outcome of today's meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders, US support for Ukraine will continue.

When asked, "Is this the end of US support for Ukraine? Is today's meeting a deal or not?" Trump replied

"I would never say it's the end. It's never the end of the road. People are dying, and we want that to stop. So I wouldn't describe today as the end."

Zelensky clarified that Ukraine is ready to seek a "diplomatic way" to end Russia's war against his country, reiterating that Kyiv insists on a trilateral meeting with Moscow and Washington.

When asked whether Ukraine is ready to "redraw the map" in a peace agreement or will "continue to send soldiers to their deaths for several more years," Zelensky did not answer directly, but praised the Trump administration's efforts to end the war.

Zelensky stressed that his country lives under constant Russian attacks, recalling the deadly night strike on Kharkiv.

"We must stop this war, stop Russia. And we need support from our American and European partners," he said.

"We supported the idea of the United States — personally of President Trump — to end this war, to find a diplomatic way to do so," Zelensky added.

He assured that he was ready for a trilateral summit between himself, Trump, and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump also expressed his desire for such a meeting to take place soon after Monday's talks, while Putin is avoiding a definitive answer for now. | BGNES
