Trump: Ukraine should not strike Moscow

Donald Trump said that Ukraine should not target Moscow after reports emerged that the US president had encouraged President Volodymyr Zelensky to strike the Russian capital.

The Financial Times reported that Trump raised the issue of a potential counteroffensive with Zelensky and even asked his Ukrainian counterpart if he could strike Moscow if Washington provided long-range weapons.

The conversation between the two leaders took place in the context of Trump's new offensive on the geopolitical stage related to the conflict in Ukraine.

The US president issued an ultimatum to Russia: if a peace agreement is not reached within 50 days, Moscow will face severe sanctions, including 100% "secondary tariffs" for countries that buy Russian oil.

During an official meeting at the White House with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump presented an ambitious arms plan: the US will sell weapons to European allies, who in turn will provide the weapons to Ukraine.

This scheme aims to speed up support for Kiev without direct US involvement in deliveries. The first wave of deliveries will be worth $10 billion, Axios revealed.

When asked by reporters at the White House whether Zelensky should target Moscow,

Trump replied that "he should not," adding that Washington would not provide Kiev with long-range missiles.

The White House earlier denied the Financial Times report and clarified that the US president had only "asked a question" of the Ukrainian president. | BGNES
