“I received the highest Russian order personally from Putin. I did not receive it from Boris Yeltsin or Gorbachev. I am the only Serb who has received this Russian distinction in 105 years, since this order was given to Nikola Pašić.”
This was stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić after his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, BGNES reported.
Nikola Pašić was a Serbian politician of Bulgarian origin. He headed the Serbian government during the most fateful years for Serbia - the Balkan and First World Wars - and is known for his pro-Russian policy, Serbian hegemony, and extreme nationalism. (editor's note).
Vucic boasted that during his conversation with Xi, he explained in detail the history of the Serbian people, their struggle against fascism, and how they were the first to rise up against Nazism.
"I explained to Chinese President Xi about the Serbian struggle against Nazism coming from Germany, but also about regional Nazism, which in its methodology and technology was even more brutal than German Nazism. This way, people understand that it is the Serbian people who are the bearers of the struggle against fascism,“ said the Serbian head of state.
Vucic repeated several times that he ”learned a lot from Xi Jinping" and did not even sleep before meeting him.
“Everywhere in China, when you say ‘Serbia,’ everyone immediately chants ‘Vucic. ’ Everyone who sees me wants to take a picture with me. This is a big deal,” he added.
The Serbian president pointed out that "Serbia can expect continued support from China on all important issues, including the issue of Kosovo.
“We can expect this on various political issues, such as Kosovo and Metohija, territorial integrity and sovereignty, just as we respect the principle of a united China and will never renounce it,” Vučić said after talks with President Xi Jinping.
He stressed that the meeting had been “very cordial” and he was confident that it would lead to concrete results for Serbia.
“I am happy when the conversation ends this way because I know that we have done something good for our country—that we will have new factories and new roads,”
Vucic said, adding that the Chinese hosts were pleased that Serbia would open a section of the Belgrade-Subotica high-speed railway in 15 days. | BGNES
