Parents of the “March of Angels” in Kocani, North Macedonia: Young children are being blackmailed and intimidated into not testifying

They requested a meeting with prosecutors at the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption, publicly asking a series of questions.

The parents, relatives and friends of the 62 victims of the Pulse disco in Kocani once again took to the streets of the city today for a protest march. The beginning of the tenth “March of Angels” deliberately started later, sending a symbolism of the delayed reaction of the institutions.

They requested a meeting with prosecutors at the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption, publicly asking a series of questions.

“Was the control of the actions carried out legally? Were the lights turned on? Was the music stopped? Did the Ministry of Interior employees who were there and saw that a fire was starting create a corridor? Why weren’t they initially allowed outside? Then, when the fire starts raging and a crowd of children rush outside, the police officers open the door and are the first to run to the exit to save themselves. Have any irregularities been established and who will bear responsibility? Have all those Ministry of Interior employees who were in control of the actions been summoned for questioning and are they suspects? We want answers and responsibility from the Ministry of Interior,” said Vaska Stoyanova, mother of the deceased Tomche.

Parents in front of the police station in Kochani called on their fellow citizens from Kochani to join the next march for the children en masse, telling them not to be afraid of pressure.

"They are blackmailing little children, intimidating them into not testifying. Why shouldn't they testify? Is this the law? Is this the state? My child is gone. Who am I marching for? For your children, people, for yours. For those of you at home. Because tomorrow, God forbid, the same thing will happen to you," said the father of another child who died in the fire. | BGNES
