Cole Palmer was named the Best Player in the first expanded edition of the Club World Cup. The Briton scored two goals in the final as Chelsea beat PSG 3-0, and also assisted on the third goal. It was the work of summer signing Joao Pedro.

FIFA awarded the Golden Boot to Gonzalo, the Real Madrid striker, with four goals and one assist (with other players tied with him on the same number of goals). Robert Sanchez was named the tournament's best goalkeeper, and Desiree Due - the best young player.

After the victory over PSG, Palmer said that the dressing room believed in the success and the possibilities of the young Chelsea squad are unlimited:

"It feels great, even better considering the way we won. I told my teammates before the game that we are fully capable of beating this team and we did.
