Meta's Promising New Smart Glasses with Built-in Display Are Just Around the Corner

After the unprecedented success of the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses, despite not having a display, Meta has started working on something even better. The company's latest smart glasses are expected to be unveiled next month, likely during the Meta Connect event, which will now include a display.

After the unprecedented success of the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses, despite not having a display, Meta has started working on something even better. The company's latest smart glasses are expected to be unveiled next month, likely during the Meta Connect event, which will now include a display.

Analyst Mark Gurman - in his Power On newsletter - has just revealed that his sources have told him how much these glasses will cost. While initial estimates from a few weeks ago were around $1,400, the real price seems to be around $800.

It should be noted, however, that these new smart glasses do not actually offer true augmented reality. They will only have a small display designed for using mini-apps and receiving notifications, as well as a few other additional functions.

These glasses represent a bridge between today's display-less smart glasses and the full-fledged AR glasses of the future, such as the Meta Orion, shown last year.

With Meta's upcoming glasses, we'll finally be able to experience Mark Zuckerberg's vision of a world where you don't have to constantly pull out your phone. Similar products, notably from Xreal, already offer a similar experience, but Meta's offering is expected to spur broader competition in this segment. | BGNES
