For Serbia, the strategic partnership with Russia in gas supply is of utmost importance, and the goal is to continue good cooperation and sign a new long-term agreement with Gazprom.
This was stated by Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Džedović Handanović, quoted by the Beta agency.
Her words were spoken after a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko.
"In this way, we are strengthening our energy security and ensuring reliable gas supplies under the most favorable conditions for citizens and the economy, as was the case in the past," Handanović emphasized.
After the expiration of the ten-year contract between Serbia and Russia for the supply of natural gas, a new one has not been signed, and supplies are currently carried out under an annex to the current agreement, which is valid until September 30.
According to data from the Republican Statistical Institute, the share of Russian gas in total imports in the first four months of 2025 was 80%. | BGNES
