Christine Lagarde reveals the design of Bulgaria's euro coins

Bulgaria will officially join the eurozone on January 1, 2026.

"Exciting news for Bulgaria and the eurozone! See the design of Bulgaria's 1 euro coin for the first time."

This was written by European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde on Facebook, who shared a first look at the design of the Bulgarian euro coin, BGNES reported.

"Although we will have to wait a little longer to see these coins in circulation, this preview gives us a chance to see the beautiful national side chosen by the Bulgarian National Bank, Bulgaria's national central bank," Lagarde added.

According to her, the design maintains continuity with Bulgaria's existing coins and includes symbols deeply rooted in the country's heritage—symbols that are dear to the Bulgarian people.

This announcement is an important step in Bulgaria's transition to the euro and gives citizens and collectors the opportunity to appreciate the country's new euro coins.
